UPDATES on Region 26 Spring UIL Events
Solo and Ensemble Contests:
- The state has extended the deadline for Solo and Ensemble contests to April 10.
- The 1A – 4A Combined Region 18-26 Band Solo and Ensemble Contest in Smithville has been moved from Feb. 20 to March 6. It is an in-person event, but with extraordinary safety and health precautions in place.
- All Vocal, Piano, String, Harp, and 5A-6A Winds and Percussion contests are in progress, and are being held on the home campuses, or live on Zoom. Each campus is allowed to select its own date, and the state deadline has just been extended to April 10. Performances may be live in-person or live on Zoom. This means that there are 34 separate contests which is logistically intense, but it is working well.
Concert and Sight-reading Evaluations:
- Some of the 1A, 2A, and C ATSSB bands scheduled for March 2-3 MIGHT be moved to April 13-15 to combine with 3A/4A and their feeders, per Region 18. Decision is pending.
- All other Region 26 Band, Choir, and Orchestra events that were scheduled prior to March 30 have been canceled, with opportunities for all groups to participate in April.
- The decision has been made to combine the Region 26 2C/3C middle school bands that feed 5A/6A high schools (originally scheduled March 30-31) with the high school event April 13-14. HOWEVER: If any middle school wishes to perform on March 30, we will make every effort to accommodate this.
- All groups have the option of performing virtually using the published UIL guidelines. Here’s the link for all the info on virtual submissions. https://www.uiltexas.org/

Virtual entries will be adjudicated at the same event by the same judges as those performing live.
